When Star Wars: Trench Run was released in the App Store, I had to buy it right away. I love games on my iPhone, and I am a Star Wars fanatic. I was shocked to discover how awesome this game really is. It’s definitely worth the money, by far. Playing the game is actually quite intuitive.
Use the Force to overthrow the evil Galactic Empire as they attempt to destroy the small Rebel base on the jungle moon of Yavin 4. As part of the Rebel Alliance’s Red Squadron, you dogfight with TIE fighters above the Death Star’s surface before heading into a trench where you are inundated by cannon fire. Dodge obstacles and stay out of Darth Vader’s sights as he tries to gun you down before you have the chance to fire your proton torpedoes into the thermal exhaust port the size of a womp rat. If successful, a direct hit will cause a chain reaction that destroys the Death Star, thus saving the Rebel base from impending doom.
I also had Trench Run running on my computer. As I exited out of the iPhone app, you can see that one of the features is being able to buy a .99 in-game upgrade. I can now use my iPhone as a wireless controller connected to any computer!
Additionally, you can play Trench Run for free – right in your browser.
If you want to demonstrate the capabilities of what the iPhone can really DO – this is an amazing way to accomplish that. Five bucks is not too much for this game, I promise you that. It’s well worth it. Fantastic.
