Vote in the Doodle for Google Contest

Several months ago, Google asked kids from all over the place to submit their Doodles of the Google logo in a contest. That contest has now been narrowed down to ten semi-finalists in each of four age categories. It’s up to you to help choose the winners in each age-range – and the overall national winner!

For the first time ever, Google is heading straight to classrooms all across the United States as part of this year’s Doodle 4 Google competition. Throughout the school day on May 18, 2010, Googlers are visiting the schools of their top 40 Regional Finalists! The judging panel is a group of “Expert Jurors” – well-known illustrators, cartoonists and animators from organizations like Disney, The Sesame Street Workshop, Dr. Seuss Enterprises, Charles M. Schulz Creative Associates and Peanuts and Pixar Animation Studios. All of the judges will attending the awards ceremony in New York City so that they can meet the talented kids.

Online voting is open from May 18, 2010 6:00 a.m. Pacific Time (PT) to May 25, 2010 5:00 p.m. Pacific Time (PT). The winning doodle will be featured on the Google.com homepage on May 27, 2010. This is a huge honor for someone so young. I’ve already voted in each of the categories, and I hope you will, as well. I was shocked to see how truly talented these kids are… and at so young of an age! I can’t even draw stick figures properly, and I’m old!

How to Synchronize and Coordinate Schedules

On an average morning, I wake up and check my email. Then I worry about going about the rest of my day. There are many times when I need to coordinate my schedule in order to accommodate other people and meetings. I can never get anywhere with schedules, because I end up with an email thread that is 14 pages long! Have you ever noticed how some people are insanely focused on setting up a phone call to talk about something you could have already covered in an email? When it comes to coordinating schedules and getting people on the same page, you may want to Doodle!

Doodle is a free service that you don’t even have to sign up for! Use it to schedule an event, such as a meeting, business lunch, conference call or even a family reunion. Create a poll with your choices, and email out your link. Then, watch as the votes come in so that you can choose the best time for everyone!

You can also use Doodle to choose what movie to see, or find the newest hot restaurant to visit. You can use Doodle with your calendar (Outlook, iCal, etc), on Facebook, or even from your mobile device.

Doodle may not be a drawing service, but it certainly does make it much easier (and more fun!) to get something scheduled.

Satan is a Dork

I was going through my spam folder, and this headline caught my eye. I was then compelled to draw it on my Wacom tablet (which doesn’t get much use around here). Consider this my homage to Spamusement.com. “Satan is a Dork” inspired this pencil sketch:

Satan is a Dork

I have no idea if the Devil really is a dork, but if he was a dork – this is probably what he’d look like. I hope I don’t offend any devil worshipers out there by doing this. The devil-worshipping demographic is highly prized, after all. Have you hugged your devil worshipper today? I wouldn’t recommend doing so, anyway. Here’s to hoping I never get inspired by any other spam subject line. I won’t quit my day job, and I promise not to doodle anything else again without first getting my mother’s permission. She’s a devil worshipper, ya know?
