Fortunately, there are companies trying to stop these malicious attacks. ZoneAlarm is among the more respected companies in the home computing security industry. Best known for their firewall applications, the company recently ventured into new territory of providing more active protection against other kinds of malicious attacks. In talking with a company representative at CES 2006, we learned about their new active protection system that fends off things like the Sony rootkit in addition to protecting against more malign port scans.
