@ Adam - podshow.com has lowered their limit:

"You can upload any size file you like all the way up to 200mb. If you file is larger than 200mb, you will need to cut it into smaller parts in order to use the PodShow PDN."

I think 10 minutes is pretty decent... we just cap our training videos at 10 minutes (even though their usually 30-40 minutes long) and just trim it as a demo. It gets the point across and shows what we want to show. If they viewer wants to see the full length video (or other full length training videos) they can just visit out site... So all in all it's good for what it is.

Personally, I agree with you on sticking with YouTube and just working withing or around the limits. While there are some other fantastic video sites out there, none seem to have the same level of community that YouTube does. The only other video sites I use are Blip.tv and LiveVideo.com. Both are pretty good and both do seem to be developing strong communities.

As for YouTube's limit, I think they should expand it. While 10 minutes mihgt be too short, I think 15 or 20 minutes would probably work for most people and still prevent rampant copyright infringement. I know Google is working on some very cool software to identify content in videos so monitoring for infringement shouldn't be too hard very soon.

"We recommend keeping the videos under ten minutes, because this keeps your viewers attention."

I couldn't agree more. Even ten minutes of watching a video is stretching my attention span unless it is unusually compelling. At Russell Davies' recent Interesting 2007 conference the longest presentation was 20 minutes (and most were 3 or 5). Give someone a camera or mp3 recorder and access to the internets and they think they can churn out 30 or 60 minute podcasts and keep people interested. Sometimes (with a decent transcript so I can jump around a bit) maybe, but not often.

Yay for keeping things short.
