Go with an LCD projection TV. I got the Hitachi 50V500 over a year ago and couldn't be happier. Yes, you do have to worry about a single projector bulb replacement eventually, but if you get the extended warranty it covers bulb replacement and is cheaper than paying for a service call to replace the bulb. Whatever you buy, make sure that AFTER you get it home you hire a certified technician to calibrate the HDTV picture. Avoid plasma at all costs. Go with an LCD projection TV.
