Your Favorite Ice Cream Flavor
Here’s a simple summer question for you: What’s your favorite ice cream flavor? Personally, I’m in love with either Spumoni or Neapolitan. Then again, I’m equally as happy with plain Vanilla or Sweet Cream. Bonus question: What are the more unique ice cream flavors you’ve had (only full scoops qualify here). In the past, I can remember surviving:
- Wasabi ice cream (Blowfish Sushi)
- Garlic ice cream (Stinking Rose)
- Avocado ice cream (Mitchell’s)
- Sesame Seed (documented)
I’ll try just about any kind of “offbeat” ice cream once. Wasabi was a bit much after the third spoon, but Sesame Seed tasted an awful lot like peanut butter. What about you?

My favorite flavor is mint chocolate chip. There’s a Coldstone near the house, and it’s awesome, but I try not to eat there too much since diabetes runs in my family. I tried wasabi ice cream once and it was the last time. It was pretty bad.

Moose Tracks from Denali Flavors. Vanilla ice cream, fudge peanut buttery swirls and mini peanut butter cups. And if you are really a chocoholic, Extreme Moose Tracks with chocolate ice cream.

I am not one to experiment with different flavors because I find that they are too sweet most of the time. But back in college I had a landlord who owned a Hagan Daas factory and every weekend she would bring home ice cream for all the students living in her building. It was then I fell in love with Vanilla Chocolate Chip. I can’t always eat dairy these days but I suffer once a month and eat a pint of Hagan Daas Vanilla Chocolate Chip ice cream. All for the love of it.

I live in Vermont and you’ll probably be surprised to see Ben and Jerry’s absent from my list. They declined in taste and quality in recent years.
Currently my favorite Ice Cream flavors are:
1) ANY flavor from VT Wilcox Dairy
2) Giffords’ Blue Ribbon Strawberry
3) Friendly’s Vienna Mocha Chunk
The weirdest ice cream I’ve liked was Caramelized Carrot! The worst ice cream I’ve ever tasted was a “death by chocolate” that was too chocolaty even for me. It tasted chalky, like eating a cup of cocoa power with just an eye drop of cream in it.

Tucker’s Ice Cream here in Alameda, CA is a favorite place of mine. Try the macapuno (young coconut) or the Rosenblum Zinfandel flavors. I want to try the jalapeno when they have it again (I chickened out last time…).

Current Fav… soft vanilla chocolate swirl, but will eat most any flavor. The most bizarre ice cream I have ever had was dippin dots. not so much a flavor as a type. If you don’t have them in a mall near you, they are super cooled lil balls of ice cream, that they’ll mix together for you in about any flavor combo. They are so cold when you first get them that they will burn your tongue.

My favorite is probably black cherry, but there are so many good flavors! Weirdest, I suppose, would’ve been the green tea or the ginger ice cream at Bamboo in Westford, MA. The green tea ice cream is *really* good! A nice understated taste, creamy and not too sweet.

Personally, I like anything with peanut butter in it. However, it’s not just the flavor, it’s also the type of ice cream. My very favorite ice cream is Dippin’ Dots! They don’t sell it in stores. You have to either find a location near you or order them on their website. I’ve ordered them once for a company party and we were able to throw the dry that comes with the package into a pool of water. It makes a really cool smoke effect for quite a long time.
