My brother's college roommate's parents (a stretch I know) once received an anonymous envelope with nothing in it except a clipping of a newpaper about recent cancer breakthroughs. Neither of them had cancer so they had no idea why they would get this. After months of trying to solve the mystery, they gave up.
Then they got another. This time about the recent cancer statistics.
They received these every several months about all-things-cancer.
To this day (many years later) they still receive these. They still have no idea why or from whom they come.

Sounds very similar to another story. And not only psychologists. I went to the Sir Francis Drake kennel club dog show a few years ago. They had a separate area devoted entirely to doggie paraphernalia and books, including this one: Astrology for Dogs. Who knows, maybe your beasties were born under an especially propitious sign.

Dog psychologists are a big deal here in the Bay Area.
