You Tube: The Movie
I was invited to become a Branded Channel on YouTube this afternoon – largely because we’ve been producing and uploading 5 videos a day for the past couple of weeks. If you thought my live site was being done for pure fun, you’re pure wrong. It’s there to build community, support community, and extend community.
If you’re not putting your videos on YouTube, you’re insane.
And if you’re not putting videos online in the first place, you’re asleep at the wheel.

Chris Pirillo might be a nice guy and all that but sometime I really wonder if he thinks through the stuff he posts to his personal blog. Recently he has jumped on the video to web bandwagon with both monitors proclaiming this is the new end all be all If you?re not putting your videos on YouTube, you?re insane. And if you?re not putting videos online in the first place, you?re asleep at the wheel. Look Chris – video might be cool and it might even be the next best thing to sliced bread but to

The only problem is, who has time to watch videos and listen to podcasts? Seriously. Like you, I skim, not peruse, content for the info I need, then I study only what is essential to finding the answer. Then I’m back to my own productivity tasks. Even with videos, I keep one finger on the SKIP FORWARD button constantly to get to the part I need.

Wow. That’s probably the most disturbing photo I’ve seen this week. You really need to have some kind of warning on this blog…
Seriously — you’re doing a great job of building community. I’ll be using you as an example.

Heck yea, at the end of the day it’s all about building the brand and building the community. Congratulations Chris, the channel should be pretty slick.

Well Chris, I guess the men in white coats are coming to lock me up in a padded room at the asylum and throw away the key because I don’t even have a camcorder for making videos with. Not that I wouldn’t want one if the cost weren’t prohibitive at the present time but to be labeled insane for not making videos to post on the internet? Really Chris, that’s so immature for a smart guy like you who’s opinion I’ve always respected on technology related issues. I wouldn’t call anyone insane simply because they didn’t do exactly what I thought they should or didn’t have as many toys to play with as I did.

hi Chris,
can you tell me what is a good all-around digital camera to produce videos for YouTube and/or MySpace? I want to keep it small and compact, so I don’t necessarily want to lug around a big camcorder setup.
Any suggestions?
thanks,
Bill
