Yoko Ono Nixes Beatles on iTunes
Yoko Ono says that you shouldn’t hold your breath waiting for the Beatles to appear on iTunes and other online retailers. The Fab Four have held out when it comes to entering the digital download fray. Instead, they cling to their old standby – the compact disc. Oddly enough, it’s been working for them. Their remastered catalog still sells millions of copies. Apple Corps (not to be confused with the Apple who brings iTunes to you!) – the group’s holding company – has been unable to agree on terms with EMI Group, which licenses the Beatles’ recordings. I have a feeling that will not change any time soon.

John Lennon’s widow told reporters that “Steve Jobs has his own idea and he’s a brilliant guy. There’s just an element that we’re not very happy about, as people. We are holding out. Don’t hold your breath … for anything,” she said with a laugh. What a sad day, indeed. Even though their CD sales are still strong, imagine how many more millions of tunes would sell should they become available in iTunes and other similar services.
