XM / Sirius Satellite Radio on the iPhone

I was just notified that there’s a new version of the StarPlayr app (currently private, but soon to be launched in the iTunes App Store). Features now include:

  • Mini guide: what’s playing on a channel before you tune in
  • New views / animations for lyrics and album art
  • Artist / title scrolling animation
  • More responsive stream start/stop
  • Hold to set / unset presets
  • Sortable presets
  • Auto mute when headphone or headset is removed
  • Shake to shuffle all channels, presets, or off
  • Auto tune to last channel on startup
  • Sound effects
  • Time played

Stay tuned, satellite radio subscribers! This is already one AMAZING app!

I’m VERY interested in this app.. not sure if I want to spend $12.99 on it though. It makes me wonder if the publishers just want to cash out as fast as possible before Sirius/XM creates their own application.

Stop naming your articles in such a way as to infer that the app is already available! And, honestly, we don’t really need to know every thing that the app will be able to do BEFORE it comes out. Advertise for it once it is available because, after all, thats what your web posts are for, right? Advertising?

Basically, what it boils down to is that you are rubbing our noses in the fact that we can’t get the app yet. CUT IT OUT!

Update on my previous comment:

One of the developers responded to me on Twitter and assured me their intentions were not to cash out before SiriusXM creates their own app. Also, the higher quality streams will work over 3G instead of only wi-fi once SiriusXM drops the low quality streams this March.
