<!--%kramer-ref-pre%-->[...] Well they call the slots on the TVs "cable card slots" but you can run a video capture device off of them. I think some people sell some composite/S-video to USB capture card cables that you can run to your PC, but I have no idea how much they are. Do you have any video inputs on your PC's videocard? EDIT: Here is a site with a FAQ on capturing video from your console: http://chris.pirillo.com/2007/05/23/xbox-360-video/ [...]<!--%kramer-ref-post%-->

I was about to say the same thing Andy said... there is almost always going to be a delay when using a video capture device of any kind to make your computer work as a "TV screen" for viewing a game. This delay will make it nearly impossible to play any games that are very sensitive to the timing of your controller inputs. You'll always be a few hundred milliseconds late in swinging your bat or firing your weapon or making a turn or whatever you have to do in the game you are playing.

The other point you mentioned about trying to get a capture device with high definition inputs: I have not see any capture cards with component HD inputs for much less than $1000 and these are all PCI cards, not USB or PCMCIA devices for use with laptops.

You should also bear in mind that some capture cards have a delay before the picture is shown on the monitor. This can make it difficult to play games as there will be a delay between using the controller and seeing the actions on the screen.
