A. Who really cares about Will Weaton. I like startrek alot I am not a fanatic like some. But out of all the characters I hated Will Weaton the most I always wanted to punch him in the face.
B. Also I dont like Will Weaton thinking he is all leet because he is using Mandrake Linux. Dont get me wrong Mandrake is a nice Linux distro. But Things along the lines of Slackware or Gentoo are leet while Mandrake is more geared towards noobs.
C. Anything with Will Weaton not in will be at least 20 percent better than him in it.

Sadtimes.
I'm really sorry that I can't make it, Chris.
I'm sure the 5's of people who were looking forward to me will tear up lots of cardboard, in a muted rage.
If you're one of those 5's, here's the deal: the week of Gnomedex is the busiest week of the year for me and my family. Everyone in our house has a birthday, as does my brother and my best friend, and my wife's best friend. It's always a hellishly busy and crazy time, and I need to be home for it.
Commence cardboard-tearing.
Oh, and Stonecolddls? If you're gonna slag me, try and spell my name right, okay? Thanks. BFF!

It's amazing how quickly people “turn” on someone just because a notification of his absence is made. Wil, I feel for you, but you needn't explain WHY you can't be there.

Yeah Wil, I cant blame you too much cause personally while I dont like you all too much. I will admit some of my hatered towards you, is not your fault but the fault of the writers on that show. You always seen a little corny on the show but while that could of been you it could of been bad writing. Who knows.
Also are you really that dense on tv like i belive it was on the TSS that they came over and installed a CD burner on your linux box. Wil come on…. I am tried of people beliving that adding things to there computer or building one is so hard. If you can put legos together you can put a computer together. Everything these days are keyed. So unless someone is a caveman and trys forcing a square peg in a round hole you can put a machine together. It like people that ask me can you hook up my computer. I cant figure out where anything goes.
I ask on the phone are the cables color coded? they answer no. Are you sure at the ends of the cables there are not some color label or the connector is a color? No I am sure are you going to come over or not .
I get over there, and the stupid computer is color coded. It like common sense the blue connector goes to the blue port. the purple keyboard connector goes in the purple hole
Wil is it really going to kill you to try something else other than mandrake. While i think you will still like mandrake everyday things. I do think that you will like slackware like on another cheap pc like some cheap thing off of ebay old p2 or p3 or celeoron box. or build your self a cheap duron machine. Slack is a good learning Linux. it conforms to the unix standard more than any other Linux. Slackware also has something that mandrake does not have which is support for *BSD apps. Setup pretty easy. Not as easy as mandrake but the easiest thing to do is just say do a full install which is 2 gigs worth the stuff installs in about 15 minutes. it cofigures your nic right there for you. then when you reboot for the first time loging as root
XFree86Setup it will autoconfigure your keyboard mouse and video. then a simple startx command. go in open up your favorite editors go to /etc/rc.d/rc.modules file uncomment your soundcard. also any other hardware you may have. and you are all set. it been a while but then you want to go to /etc/ident and change it to runlevel 4 at start up. which is Xlogin mode. it is runlevel 5 on mandrake and redhat before anyone tries to correct me.
and you are pretty setup. Yeah there is no rpm packages. and you dont get openoffice or scream but half the fun is compileing them in the first place. Playing around with it. optimizing the compile for your processor . it is not hard and it pretty neat to watch.

not to change the subject…..well, yes to change the subject. I've been trying to get all the info I can regarding this world-wide crisis going on in Iraq. Is WORLDTV a viable source for intel? So far I haven't been able to find links to internet stations that might provide coverage. Are there any?

Apparently putting together a computer, or legos, is easier than putting together a coherent sentence. Or thought for that matter.

Hondo, Pretty much.
My my thoughts and my sentences do seem to wonder, and then become less than coherent.

Hey, I'm still goin'! I just found out about and I can't wait! I'm relatively new to TechTV and enjoyed Chris on CFH. I also enjoy TSS, and I admit my perplexity over Leo taking over CFH. Big, stupid corporate muckety-mucks….ah, wadda they know? Anywho, I'm goin'. Definitely, definitely goin'. Yup.
