As stated above the right path to follow would be;
LiveCD - just to get a hang of the new linux os
Wubi - Install and start working (though on the crippled file-system of Win)
Install Ubuntu on a partition and allow dual-boot. This way Ubuntu is no on Win file-system.

Wubi does __ALWAYS__ work fine.<br

Read the heading 'Wubi is Simple' 'Never been Easier' so thought I would give Wubi a try before progressing to Ubuntu.Not easy for me I'm afraid, can't get the 'Never been Easier' Wabi to install, ZoneAlarm pops up and interrupts the process and refuses to continue, dare say if I shut down ZoneAlarm or messed about with its settings I would be able to continue - but I can't be bothered ! ! !

I was curious about Linux and Ubuntu. (or at least used to be able to...) ^_^

not necessarily, i’ve had them come in less than a week, it depends how many orders they have queued up at the time, and you can’t really complain about the timing when you get the disks for free!
