Now that we’ve reached 5000 Geeks on the new site, it’s time to announce our next giveaway. Ten lucky Geeks members will win a free VX-5500 LifeCam from Microsoft! All you have to do to qualify is to be a member of Geeks, and join the Microsoft Hardware group. This giveaway will happen once we reach 7500 members, which won’t be long from now.

The LifeCam VX-5500 is all about fun with an innovative new design. The VX-5500 ships with three interchangeable faceplates in blue, red and white, so users can either choose their favorite color and leave it that color or switch the color every day to match their mood. Similar to LifeCam Show, the VX-5500 can be used on a laptop or desktop computer with an innovative universal attachment clip. When users are ready to pack up, the entire webcam folds down flat for easy transport. With a VGA sensor for 640×480 video, 1.3MP stills, and a unidirectional, noise-cancelling microphone, the LifeCam VX-5500 keeps all video communications crystal clear.

  • Optimized for Windows Live. Windows Live Messenger lets you chat online via text, voice and video. Combine the features of Windows Live with the LifeCam VX-5500 for an unforgettable experience.
  • Interchangeable Faceplates. Extra faceplates let you customize with your favorite color.
  • Video Messages. Send a video message to your contacts anywhere, anytime – even if they are not online. Send and receive video messages directly from your desktop using the exclusive LifeCam Video Message gadget.
  • Noise Cancelling Microphone. Crystal-clear audio, built-in unidirectional microphone with acoustic noise cancellation and echo cancellation.
  • High Definition 1.3 Megapixel Still Photos. High Definition still photos show you in the best light.

Brandon LeBlanc will also be posting about this giveaway on the Windows Vista Blog… so we may hit 7500 members faster than you think. That blog has a large amount of traffic and subscribers, and many of them may come over to join us at Geeks.

Also, make sure you’re with us in the chat room this Friday night, September 27th. As promised, we’ll be giving away Ponzi’s 1st Gen iPhone to one lucky member of the Geeks community since we passed that 5000 member mark today!

Thank you to everyone who has made the Geeks community grow so quickly into such a fantastic place. And special thanks to the team at Microsoft for coming on board with this awesome giveaway!

Thanks for all you do Chris. Setting up these giveaways and creating relationships with major companies is awesome.

Thanks for giving away a webcam, but I don’t think I personally want people seeing my ugly mug on the Internet.

I think its great to see a company such as Microsoft put stock and attention into the social networking community. Many companies today put more importance into economy than community.

It sounds great, Chris! I certainly would enjoy a new, high quality webcam. Thanks Microsoft!

Sounds Beautiful!

I would love to have a Microsoft Webcam… I have always had the Logitech ones, and they seem to be fine, however I have heard that the Microsoft ones are very good!!!

Love to see that Microsoft is keeping their names out there….

Although Microsoft webcams are not the best quality, they will do the job. My last experience with a Microsoft webcam was about a year ago, and it worked great for the time I had it (It was not mine, I was testing it out on a customer’s repaired PC)

Congrats on all the memberships on Geeks! I’m digging the network :) Thanks Chris!!

Does the webcam do what you do with you webcam. For example: running 24/7 and zoom in and out with a remote. I think it is a great device from what I read about it.

I am so happy that this has all been made possible, by Chris. The community at Geeks, the giveaways, and all that is just wonderful for Chris’ fans everywhere. Way to go Chris!

I already own two Microsoft LX-3000 Lifechat USB headsets. Very good. I certainly wouldn’t mind one of these.

Sounds like a awesome webcam. The noise cancelling feature is what im really needing/wanting!! With my husband overseas we use the webcams alot and he camplains about my mic alllll the time. Do you know of n e other webcams that have that feature i can look into by chance?!

Yes i would love to Win A Free Microsoft Webcam. I have always wanted one but never got the chance to get one. This is a wonderful opportunity for me. I Love Give Aways Keep It Coming Chris!

I would love to win Microsoft Webcam! That’d be like so super-ooper! I really like Microsoft and I appreciate their products. My built-in webcam on my laptop doesn’t work the greatest, and I know Microsoft webcams do because I have SEEN a Microsoft webcam before.

That’s why I want one!

I would love to try out a Microsoft webcam. I have a logitech QuickCam right now. I just started a stream on ustream.tv and the logitech cam is not cutting it anymore. I would love to see if the Microsoft cam would do better.

Wow this is great. i never had a microsoft webcam be fore. it will be great if i won!!

Yeah I want some cheezy poofs… err yeah I want a webcam. :P

I think Microsoft Hardware is quality stuff and would LOVE to have one of their webcams. :-)

Yes’ I Would it would be awesome to shoot some youtube video!!!

Chris, I’d love to join the Microsoft Hardware group, but your Ning-powered site is too slow and unresponsive to even get to the point that clicking the join group link will activate the linked JavaScript code.

I find this to be a common trait among Ning networks.

Sweet. Thanks for this, fingers crossed!

I don’t have a webcam so it would be really cool if I won one. A thank you goes out to chris and microsoft for this opportunity.

Hey, a better topic questions would be who wouldn’t want a free web cab. (hense the free part!)

I am so happy that you are doing this, we are all most there, YA!!!!!

XOXO Sarah

This is a great site. you should never go off of it chris!
GO CHRIS! Great Stream i watch it all the time, JessMac
