Ten Tips for Dressing Your Full Figure

  • Dress all in one color. Dark colors such as navy or black will make you appear slimmer, since dark colors absorb the light. Never wear metallic colors!
  • Make sure your clothes are the right size. Clothes that are too tight will only enhance your problem areas. Also, clothes that are too big will just make you look even larger than you actually may be.
  • Don’t wear clothes that have clingy or stretchy fabric in them. They will cling to places you don’t want them to, and that will again enhance areas you would likely rather camoflague.
  • Wearing high-heeled shoes makes you appear to be taller, which in turn makes you appear slimmer.
  • Don’t wear bright colors, other than your accessories. Those things will take the immediate focus off of your body, and draw attention to other areas.
  • Having good posture adds height, as well as slims you down.
  • A long coat or shirt-dress can hide many problem areas, and can be dressed up or down.
  • Never ever wear horizontal stripes. They will make you appear wider than you are, where vertical ones help you appear slimmer.
  • Keep your clothes simple. If your top or dress has a lot of lace or ruffles, it can make you look larger than you are, simply by adding more “bulk” to what you have on.
  • If your legs are thick, avoid hose that have stripes or other patterns in them. Plain pantyhose are slimming for heavy legs.
