<!--%kramer-ref-pre%-->[...] Why I Attend Gnomedex... by Matt Hartley at 02:35AM (PDT) on July 3, 2006 | Permanent Link | Cosmos I considered starting off by stating that my reasons for attending Gnomedexwere vast and mysterious. However nothing could be further from the truth. In simplest terms, I attend because of the people who participate each year. People who are not really all that different from me, rather than any particular speaker. These people include, however are not limited to: Chris, Ponzi, Greg, Brandon, Chris Sloop, Robert Glen Fogarty (coming back next year), Eric Rice (you still owe me a forecast video, wink) among many others in which I am spacing right now because I am tired. I have met more cool people at Gnomedex than I could have ever had hoped to elsewhere. As a matter of fact, it's the only convention that I bother attending! Even if Chris opted to move Gnomedex elsewhere, I would still attend knowing that my friends are as hooked on being there as I am. It's like Pringles for the mind - once you pop, you just can't stop. Now don't get me wrong. The speakers are certainly provoking and engaging, as we have all come to expect. But for me, it will continue to be the people that I call friend that encourages me to make that 2 hour trek to Seattle each year. Some might call it a yearly reunion with friends, I would rather refer to it for what it is - Fellowship of the Gnomies. See you all next year! [...]<!--%kramer-ref-post%-->

Although technically true for myself, the quote attributed to me:
“Because it has consistently been the best conference every year I’ve attended.

is actually from Nick Bradbury:
