I have a question how can I play my audio in the chat rooms ,I can’t hear the people play there music. I have a Windows Vista Home Premium and only have the sound at home. All I need to know if it is possible to play my music in the chat rooms or what do i need to do that it works? Please e.mail me back.

I had high hopes for these update packs, but they didn’t correct the “Calculating Time Remaining” bug that you mentioned. I have two such dialogs that are minimized to my taskbar at the moment, and which I know will not go away until I reboot my computer. I was only trying to move a couple of 5MB files from one drive to another. Argh.

I’ve been having many of these issues but usually when I really pushed the OS. Like running two instance of a 3d game. or a game and video and TS.

thought it was my nvidia driver and/or creative labs driver. I hope these hotfixes actually fix the problem and not work around it (which usually means a drop in performance).

btw: I have dell xps 710h2c so it was supposedly designed to run on Vista. no old hardware here.

Just returned from fixing somebody’s Vista wireless network. Oh joy. If XP was so ‘great’ and ‘easy’, why did M$oft completely rearrange all the Vista UI settings (ie configuration setup sequences and setting menus) without actually making any improvements whatsoever, beyond the tedious eye candy? (Not an inprovement for me – I use WindowBlinds and Directory Opus). Was it just to frustrate non M$-certified tech support? For example, the help messages are now twice as obtuse, twice as convoluted and twice as likely to send you back to the beginning without finding the problem. How can a network be unavailable and without a problem at the same time? It’s easy, with Vista. Oh, and icons in glass globes? dated.

I want it to work too and, believe it or not, I actually like Vista. OK, I like it when it is preinstalled on a proprietary PC. Installing or upgrading an XP computer can cause nightmares but, as with every other OS I have ever worked with, nothing beats a clean install. The only issue I have noted on my three Vita powered computers that was addressed by MS with these patches was the calculation of transfer time/rate when transferring files across my home network. It is better now but I still feel that it is slower than it should be. Thanks for the info.

what about ftp? when you drag a file in to a ftp folder, the damn “overwrite box” gets blocked by i think the “calculating time remaining”

Win what? The day? The affection of its users? How does one define “win” in this case if not by 90%+ market share?

I’ve forced myself to use it full-time a few weeks now and, so far, Windows Vista is still just Windows.

I’ve been using Vista on my Thinkpad Z61t for a while now and so far the only problem I have come across that actually lowers the quality of my experience is that Access 2007 seems to have issues on Vista. It seems to crash every five minutes. One of these days I will get fed up and reinstall office.

Nevertheless, thanks for mentioning these updates. I have experienced several of the bugs listed and it will be nice to have those ‘fixed’.

That “calculating time remaining” was the most annoying bug I’ve ever seen on any OS. Damn, even the VIC20 could copy a file from one place to another instantly, why not a 2007 operating system? I really hope its fixed

I am sticking with XP. Vista is way over the horizon for me.. I just cannot find any reason to upgrade yet. XP good. XP stable.
