Comments on: Windows Vista Drivers

I just purchased two computers with vista windows. My son usually has too much respect for me to complain but his comkplaints haven’t stopped since I bought it for him. I personally have had a a hell of a time trying to find software that will allow my HP Lazerjet 3055 compatibility. I was warned not to go anywhere near vista but because I have an office and need everthing on the up and up, I decided to get both myself and my son vista.
So whats it going to be. You guys going to get it together or must we return to our old xp and throw this trash where it belongs, In the trash. Even the simplest of things like hooking up my HP Lazerjet 3055 scanner is unsuccesfull. I know, you guys will try to blame HP but all in all, I blame microsoft. How in creation did you all decide to put a product on the market with all these unfinished bugs.
Shame on you Mr Microsoft. How bout getting it together and doing something about all these complaints. I personally expected much more from such an established business.

Hey Janet , Don’t feel bad. I was extremely clueless a year ago. I have a HP f2100 all-in -one and I can hook it up to my notebook. Go to the HP web site and click on downloads, it will prompt you to enter your computer model and it even has a convienient system that youcan click on and it scanns your connection frfom your computer and tells you what driver you need to operate your printer on your computer. If you do it this way your sure to get the right download.

OK… your site is a riot. lol so I have a Q from a geek chick (but I geek on airplanes, not computers!!!)… how in the HELL do you hook up your HP all-in-one to a wireless notebook? I know.. I KNOW! I’m so behind the tech curve. And I can’t find the damn installation guide! Just need to figure out how to hook it up to the router (I think that’s what you do?) Would you help me? :)

If your printer driver does not install in Vista, navigate to c:\windows\system32\drivers, then right click, properties, security tab, edit, add button, advanced button, Find Now button, double click on the name of the user at the bottom that needs system permission to add the driver, OK, highlight the user just added in the top, click “Full Control” in the bottom permissions, OK. Now try to install your printer driver. It should work.

I didn’t know anything about computers at all when I bought this one. I’m 34, and just now going back to school, so, I figured I would get a computer so I could do most of my work at home since I have a full-time job, a husband and kids. So I thought it was time to jump int the 21st century and get to know something about computers.(before this ,I am ashamed to say, that I hadn’t ever even sent an email or logged on to the internet) Well anyway, My Compaq sr5110 came bundled with vista home basic, I upgraded to vista home premium, an all I had to change on my computer was I had to instal more memory (which I’m proud to say I did myself) I’ve never had any problems installing my HP all in one printer , or my desk jet printer from the installation disks. I never had any problems installing my HP M437 digital camera either. Maybe it was because It came pre-installed with vista, it just knew what to do. Everytime I did get a pop-up saying I needed a special update or driver ,I just clicked on the install button and let it through my security.

I have been issued a new laptop with Windows Vista. The problem is I have a plotter that is not up to date. Its a HP DESIGNJET 450C. The plotter works great, but not with Vista. . . . yet. Has anyone found a driver that will be compatible with Vista and make it possible to use old hardware.

I have an HP F380 and all was well until it started to chew up paper. Perceived wisdom was to uninstall everything then reinstall, which I tried to do. The software said it had installed but my printer did not show up. On connecting the printer cable it said device detected, it asked me to insert the disk to locate the driver, and it could not find them. Strange as it’s a Vista compatabile disk, and on first install it found them. After four hours of install, uninstall, and reboots I contacted HP where some ’support guy’ told me it was my printer cable, my usb ports, no it’s not it’s the fact that HP only provide a full software suite and not seprate drivers! After 45 mins of patronising waffle I ended the support still non- the wiser and still without a working printer. Unfortuanatly, I can’t go back to XP as my restore disk won’t work due to my bios being updated which was a pre-requisite to install vista. Talk about between a rock and a hard place. If I go to Linux it recognises my printer straight off, time to say pasta la vista babe.

I have K8V-MX AUDIO DRIVERS FOR VISTA 32BIT…. Not Soundmax programme, but the drivers i found on ASUS’ FTP site work for me if I manually choose them. Email me and i’ll send them. IF ANYONE KNOWS WHERE ELSE I CAN POST THIS TO HELP OTHERS, LEMME KNOW!!!

Chris. I remember you on Tech TV. Sad that you actually defend anything Vista. Vista sucks and I cannot run thousands of dollars worth of software I have accumulated over the years. This is not acceptable. I cannot even obtain the drivers for this crappy HP/Compaq Vista computer that only uses Vista drivers for the motherboard. I am sold short by the computer hardware manufacturer and Microsuck. They are in cahoots together and won’t support anything. I am going to buy an older motherboard to run my previous operating system. Windows Me got a bad reputation but I had no problems with it. If Windows Me will run all my software what does that say about Vista? It says it sucks. You have no credibility whatsoever when you try to sell the public on Vista because you found a driver for a device. I can’t even find drivers on Vista for a common mouse. Vista, HP/Compaq, Microsuck and Chris Perillo all suck.

I think you are taking something illegal. My IT guy gave me a Vista computer to take home and test drive. So far, not one of my peripherals works. HP Desk Jet 855C, no Vista driver coming from HP. Printer works fine, no need to upgrade. If I do it will be with something other than HP. Both the integrated sound card on the motherboard and the SB card that I installed ar not recognized. No Vista drivers on the Creative site. This is ridiculous. Buy Vista. Required to by new computer to run it. Required to buy all new peripherals. How many ways can I say NO WAY? I’m going back to Windows 2000 because the XP Pro 2 never did install correctly and let Bill Gates & Co. rip off everyone else but me. This is the biggest consumer rip-off in the history of the world, and all of the mfgrs. are in on it with MS.
