I came to Windows from a MAC background. Man, Windows is Evil, with a capitol 'E.' I downloaded Movie Maker twenty times. Each time it says it is installed, each time I can't find it, ANYWHERE. Then I find many have the same problem. I have spent HOURS trying to get it up.. I'm losing my productivity time. Since I've been on Windows, I've spent at least 50% of my time trying to keep things working. Anyway, I needed Movie Maker, and I am now days behind my necessary work output. I am not inexperienced. The system is not nearly as user friendly as the mac... which is why they are so damn expensive.

Have a startup problem with Windows movie maker 2.6 I am using on Windows 7 home prem in 64 bit.
When staring the program I get a one or two second look at
a file I tried to load to edit in show in Collection Title
It was a .vob file that need .mpg2 codex to access. Which is also a problem with 2.6 version. Windows doesn't support that codex in the new program for Windows 7, as far as making it part of the program that is.... Also need to find out how to get the mpg codexes that will work with the 2.6 version...
But my problem right now is getting the program to work at all.
After the one to two second showing of the title in Collection
it goes right into the Window "Windows movie maker has stopped working" it checks for problems, but comes up with none and your forced to shut down the program...
Thus making the program unusable!
I have tried to uninstall the program the re-install it fresh, but get the same screen with the old file in collection and the stopped working window!
Help.......

sooo i'm finally, complete with my 25 minute movie about my trip to ireland (which let it be known took forever since the program freezes every second and skips frames during preview, etc. etc.) and ready to publish. i have tried publishing both to e-mail size and to standard definition on my computer. unfortunately, once movie is complete and watched i find some frames where only the audio is heard. just a gray screen appears :( the same frames are viewed perfectly in preview mode so i'm really unsure as to why this happens.

if anyone knows i would be ever so thankful!! i've been googling up a storm and have yet to find a correct solution.

thanks!!

I could do everything I needed to in WMM that was bundled with Vista Home Prem (I imagine it'd be v.6) EXCEPT publish. (I'm putting together personal videos to an MP3 track). Didn't realise the number of codecs from other install programs I had on, turned them all off and so far it's publishing now! THANKS!

Although I should say, if you're going to get serious with vid editing, steer clear from WMM. It sucks ass.

I’m having a bit of a problem on viewing the files I import into movie maker:
The videos I import seem to play ok, but on the clips, I can view one clip great, but the rest are blanked out and only the audio seems to be working (And it’s happened on ALOT of clips).
What’s wrong with it, and how do I fix it?
