Windows Media Player
http://live.pirillo.com/ – Back in the day Windows Media Player burst onto the scene and kicked ass. It was slick, played a lot of formats, and was the media player.
As time went on, however, WMP has become bloated and user unfriendly.
ADHD from the chat room heard that Windows Media Player 11 sucks: is that true?
Chris believes that the Windows Media Player development team doesn't have their priorities straight with WMP. When WMP 11 was still in beta testing stages he filed several bugs as well as tried to convince them to support RSS.
The bugs were never fixed, and RSS has never been supported in Windows Media Player.
Should you upgrade from Windows Media Player 10 to 11? If you don't want to then you really don't have to. Everything is pretty much the same, but if you wanted to have an Urge subscription you'll need to upgrade to version 11.
Stick with 10, or try an alternative media player.
Do you have any suggestions for an alternative media player?

I like jetaudio, still missing something though. Looking for elusive player that just plays files. of all types.

does winamp run better than Itunes? I know Itunes uses so much of my resources which bothers me a lot. I don’t care about playing quality or ui i just want my player to run fast and unintrusively…

GOM player is very good all-round player with almost every needed codec included. For audio, Xion uses about 0.5% of processor time and 11MB memory and it has it all (skins, visualizations, plugins).

Thank you! I currently have MMJB—which I paid $50 for a lifetime of upgrades back in 2000-ish—only to find Yahoo took it over and it sucks now. I also have iTunes and have tried many others. ALL I want to do is manage my music and occasionally by a song or two. I ping-pong back and forth with them and couldn’t decide which one to STICK with. I am downloading WimAmp now thanks to your strong opinion of it, and hope I can finally settle down and enjoy my freaking music! LOL! I’ll let ya know. :)
I watched TechTV religiously back in the early years of 2000 and LOVED it. I hate that it is no longer. I especially loved the episode when you could NOT stop laughing because you burped??!! Loved it! Thanks for all your help. Then….and now!
Now if I could only figure out what this RSS stuff is, and how to use it! LOL
Any suggestions?
