Calling the .NET framework slow is to exaggerate. A .NET application may not be as fast as native Win32 one, but a lot of improvements have happened since the release of version 2.0.

David, I’m from the Windows Live Writer team and wanted to check on your comment about extra ‘p’ tags. Wordpress is one of the primary blogging platforms Writer supports and we tried very hard to make sure no extra whitespace is inserted. I just created a post on Wordpress.com and am not seeing any leading ‘p’ tags:

Which version of Wordpress are you using? Also, did the editor show there was leading line ‘p’ at beginning post body in the editor before you posted, or are you saying it got added during the publish? Writer does not automatically strip any whitespace that is inserted at the beginning of the post in the editor, but it does strip whitespace from the end of the post when publishing. If you used the BlogThis button to start your post, it will automatically insert a leading paragraph element so that you have a place to insert your own commentary outside of the predefined blockquote. Unfortunately, if Writer doesn’t automatically remove that placehold paragraph if you don’t enter anything into it.

WLW doesn’t even support Wordpress properly, although it claims to. It inserts extraneous ‘p’ and ‘/p’ tags into the post, with the end result that the post will have a blank line at the top when you publish it. It’s Frontpage all over again!

Just downloaded the program and I think it is still miles ahead compared to the other desktop clients, both Mac and Windows, out there.

Thanks Chris, I used it this morning. From reading this post to posting my 1st post with it on Mobility Site took 5 minutes! I use Movable Type.
