I would recommend the antispyware solution from Search-and-destroy to anyone.
I spent a lot of time searching for a good scanner at an affordable price. I tired many different ones before I found Search-and-destroy Antispyware but when I tired it I was very happy with the results. I would recommend the antispyware solution from Search-and-destroy to anyone searching for a great scan that works just as well as Norton and many of the others that you would pay more for. Visit Search-and-destroy to find out more and to give this scan a try just like I did. I’m sure you will love it as much as I do.

I don't use Vista, but it appears that the UAC is akin to a firewall (albeit a very chatty one) in earlier versions of Windows. I'm wondering if it's any better.

I'm guessing not.

Well I'm one of the "few" people who turned off UAC, but I would like to ask you which antivirus would you prefer for Windows Vista? an anitivirus that is light yet effective and powerful.

>most other people consider it an annoyance and turn it off.

"Most"? I would say that only a "few" like you actually turn it off. I believe MOST people leave it on and are thus protected much more than you think.

But I agree that everyone should still have some kind of antivirus software installed.
