Ponzi wants a Wii, so I thought I would share this list of Wii tips sent in from a community member at large. Here are the top five tips, submitted to my email: chris@pirillo.com.
- Do you truly really want the Wii? Don’t be sucked into the advertising, or hype. Don’t spend your money on this expensive system simply because everyone says it’s the coolest. Think about why you want it, and make sure your reasons are sound.
- Games themselves may or may not become a factor for you. If you get bored with a game quickly, you need to make sure you buy the gaming platform that has the largest variety of games that you are interested in.
- When you buy your Wii, save enough money to buy actual games, and a second controller. Dont’ waste money buying a bunch of “extras”, such as a golf club. The Wii is really designed to be interactive, and just isn’t as much fun with only one remote.
- Make sure you have an excellent internet connection. The best parts of the Wii are found via the Internet. Try to hook it directly to your router when possible. I found that having the Wii use a wireless connection was simply too slow for me.
- Make sure that the place you will put the Wii is as large and open as possible. Try to remove any and all obstacles that you could trip on, or hurt yourself on. Also, make sure you try to stay at least five feet away from the television!

I think my family is going to get a Wii. It will be the first game system since we had a sega dreamcast, which basically blew. I also have a PSP but am depressed that a new one is out. Knowing that I have some out of date system makes me sad. Hopefully it will still meet up to my needs!

I got the wii for christmas and I love it, but I have another tip (well kind of a tip) do not buy Wii Play, it is basically a series of mini games that you must unlock, and they arent fun in my (or anybody else that I know) opinion, if you want this game, play it first if you don’t play it first and just buy it, you will be severly disappointed by it.

For tip #2, I would think that because of the interactive style of the wii, there is a greater variety of gaming style than any of the other consoles out there. If you look at the xbox 360, all the “popular” games are first person shooters.

Well the Wii was great for me since I like the games on the Wii better than PS3 or XBox 360 games.

If you are looking for a game system that everyone in the family could play get the Nintendo Wii. It’s really easy to use and it is interactive.

I pretty much gave up on console games after PS1. Not that I don’t like them mind you, but I find that after a few months i get rather bored with them and give them to my nephews. Needless to say my nephews are a bit miffed as to why they don’t get a used console game for Christmas anymore. lol

I guess I’m just a big Nintendo fan but I was happy to just play the wii sports for a while. Still haven’t bought Mario but have Zelda. Mario and Zelda are a must with every new Nintendo system i get.
The online part isnt really a big thing to me. I hardly ever use the news, weather or voting channels and the Mii channel was fun for about a week. Havent felt to need to download any virtual console games either. I have the pc for that kind of stuff!

I have had the Wii since it came out in November of ‘06. I have to say that it’s one of the best consoles i have ever used. It has great features that I love. Internet is one of the best. Most people that I know who have one, love it. If you DON’T have one, I suggest getting it. If you’re not into Wii, I guess the 360 would be a good choice as well. Not sure about the PS3, i heard some good and bad things about it. Anyway, the next gen consoles have been doing considerably great, and hopefully in a few years, the consoles will be so good, that they will be an inevitable necessity. PC still seems to be the best ‘console’, but Vista ruined it. Just a bit.
