You know what i think…I think that all you haters out there suck!! You’all wanna talk all your smack about vista….why dont you create a better os then? I think vista is ok…been using it sice it was released and still have xp on another drive but when i boot with xp after using vista for so long xp is the underdog. Vista had alot of compatability problems when first released, but dont you think its time to upgrade? Still running your older programs?..well get with it!! If your going to upgrade your software you need to start with your o.s. Everyone that I hear complain about Vista, I question their intelligence, and you know what I find 9 times out of 10?..I find that they are only going by what other ppl are saying and not on personal experience. Ive been using Vista, like I said since it was released and I think it’s great!!!!!

I absolutely hated Vista. It’s UAC nagged me to death anytime I wanted install any program and it was sooooo slow compared to XP. I used it for a while on my laptop before wiping it and installing XP Pro. Haven’t looked back. Newer is DEFINITELY NOT better with this version of Windows. Hasta la Vista, Baby!

I approached Winidows Vista with an open mind when I got my new PC. However I have come up against innumerable problems and honestly Vista has been a right pain from the very start. Those who are happy probably don’t use a variety of different software programs some of which may be older. I can’t even get online for chrissakes! I am forced to revert to my primitive PC with Windows XP to get online! Why? Because Vista needs a special ADSL Mode and a new version of AOL broadband software. I have even had problems downloading that!!. I feel like wiping the Hard Disk clean and installing Windows XP!! The only area where I see an improvement is in Windows Media Player where moving about is quicker and more straightforward.

I have been running Vista for about two months and I have had NO problems. I admit that I have a newer system with more robust capabilities and more know-how than the average user. However, I did have some legacy peripherals like a 2 year old sound card that I like very much and a 2 year old printer. The Audigy installed well as well as my HP printer with no hiccups. I have had no BSOD’s and no random errors. I have my copy of XP ready just in case I need to jump ship, but with what I have EXPERIENCED, there seems to be no problems. I will say that it FEELS like XP with a different UI. most of the dialog boxes are nearly identical and the way Vista responds is quite similar to XP. I did turn off the UAC as I felt that was just annoying. Otherwise it feels the same as XP. I wouldn’t recommend Vista to anyone happy with XP, as Vista is just a refresh and a negative one at that for many people, and SP3 will make going to Vista even more silly until Windows 7 comes out. Other than DirectX 10 games, there are very little in terms of new features that would prompt the average user to move to VIsta, Office 2007 is annoying at first and doesnt feel intuitive, so it just a big learning curve with no percieved benefit. I might add that switching to a MAC/Linux would also be a nasty learning curve. Also for people suffering from an empty wallet SP3 is supposed to increase system performance up to 10% with some Vista features so even less of a reason to move. I am staying with Vista because it works well for ME and I dont want to spend 6-7 hours reinstalling everything just for it to work EXACTLY the same. ,,, Just my 2cents

Why dont all you whiners stop the whining and install Windows 95 or some other OS you like. I have Vista and I enjoy it very much. Go ahead and throw lots of stupid insults at me – couldnt care less :-).

Be gone you negative minded people – all you do is complain – you never participate in making things better, like for example by joining a beta program or contribute in other ways like reporting errors.

And what did you think anyway – it´s a new OS – it will take some time to learn how to use it, and it will take some time for all software vendors to make Vista-ready software. I laughed a bit about one guy who wrote here that it took him much longer to locate the control panel in Vista compared to XP. To put it straight forward: that is ridiculous…

Of course I too had problems with hardware and software. First my RAID wouldnt work – took quite a while to fix that one. Then several of my old software purchases like ACDSee and Steganos couldnt install. But these problems were temporary – new Vista-versions appeared and new hardware drivers came. I find it odd that you blame Microsoft for everything, having no thoughts on all the applications you put into it yourself. They finally made an OS where installed software runs in a more controlled way, so it doesnt mess up the hole OS when it crashes.

Stop crying and embrace the love of Microsoft! ;-)

I’ve been with Apple products since 1988 and I can just go about my business creating beautiful complex graphic files, manipulating digital photography, playing numerous games, composing beautiful music and videos, etc., etc., etc., and still have time to got to bed early!

I bought a new computer with Windows Vista, and now I cannot access all my saved documents from my old computer that are In Word format. help! What do I do? Do I have to go and buy Word again and install it on my new computer?
Why would Vista create a platform incompatible with the word processing feature used on most older computers??
Any help will be appreciated.

Running Vista here for months without significant issue. I like it. I like XP too and run it on another desktop for with a program from a software vendor that refuses to upgrade compatibility to Vista. A few points to ponder
1) Linux is not ready for the standard computer user. You can tout it all you want but I would NEVER reccomend Linux in any current distro to my parents. I would have to move in with them for support purposes.
2) Macs are nice but keep in mind Macs don’t have to satisfy every software need and whim of every computer user. They’ve got it locked tight and you use what they say you use.
3) If everyone just switched, MS would take a nose dive and then you all would have your way. But they won’t and you continue to look like that group in the schoolyard who always runs to the teacher telling on the bully. Get over it and use whatever you like.

COMPATABILITY!
As a profession CAD drafter my point of view is the need for a stable high quality system. In 2006 I had the opportunity to purchase Architechtural Desktop 2007 at a significant savings while a student to run on XP. Nine months later Vista is the new Os that MS is touting as the way to go. One of my fellow students had just purchased VISTA and was all excited about his Dell workstation and the new “upgrade”, Dell told him it would work, MicroStuff told it would work …After 2months of constant problems like the BSOD most times he started his AD 2007 or his computer would just shut down completely in the middle of a drawing. He ended up having to return to XP in order todo any drafting … the problem is VISTA won’t run AD 2007 it only runs AD 2008. And AD 2008 will not run on anything but VISTA. No other Autodesk product will run on VISTA. Apparently MicroStuff and Autodesk got together to make it happen a BIG IMPROVEMENT oh boy!
So for me to “upgrade” to VISTA it will cost about $4000.00 in order to run the new OS and the new AD 2008 application. Not very cost effective eh.
Now what I am hearing is MS is having to offer a “upgrade” to XP for many Profession business applications because of the compatibility issues. All other issues aside if I have to buy all new applications just to “upgrade”
to VISTA it isn’t worth it. When will MS wake up and treat the consumer with the respect and quit putting out untested BETA’s for sale in order to get the public to pay for its R&D.
Gates may have billions but how honest is he? No wonder the EURO courts have decided that MS is a monopoly and won’t let them distribute VISTA.

I believe that I am justified in saying that Vista is the WORST OS that microsoft has ever produced.
