My favorite beers are G. Schneider & Sohn Hefeweizen , or for a dark beer, Old Peculiar. American breweries are improving, especially the boutiques. Shiner Brewery (brewed right here in Texas) puts out some very good German style beers. I do kind of miss living in Amberg (Bavaria), though - 10 breweries in a town of about 80,000, all of them good.

How do you pin it down to one?
My favorites: Guiness, Harp, San Miguel (in the Phillipines). And the Blackwater Brewing Co., Davis, WV has a porter that is excellent.

I think I’d like to know where it is, that I might drop in for a schooner or two. They might just have my preference.
‘Schloss Waechtersbach,’ or ‘Warsteiner Pils’…

My favorite beers are mostly Belgian ales: Chimay, Delirium tremens, Bière des ours, Saint-Landelin, etc.
From France, I really like Trois-Monts and Bière des sans culotte.
And here in Quebec, from Brasserie Unibroue, I really like these ones : Don de Dieu, Eau bénite and Blanche de Chambly.

Flying Dog Brewery’s Double Dog Pale Ale floats my boat. I’ve never had better and I’ve brewed and tasted plenty in my 5 decades. More hops & malt (of the type I prefer :)) than a case of most brews, and a respectable 11.5 abv. Yet very well balanced and incredibly delicious. The label quotes the brewery’s deceased owner, Hunter S. Thompson: “Good people drink good beer.” Amen
