My friend Traci records and uploads a weekly Question of the Day on her sites. Often these questions are philosophical and make you really think about yourself and your life. While I was visiting Hawaii this past week, I was able to help record one of the questions! I decided to ask: What is the first thing you do every day?.
The first thing Traci does in the morning is to thank her Higher Power for her life, and the blessings that she has. The first thing that I do, though, is to check my email! Do you honestly think I’m joking! You know me!!
What’s the first thing you do every morning, and why do you follow that particular routine?

First thing that I do in the mornings is log on and respond to emails. You probably have an idea how many accumulate while you are sleeping. I also talk to my sis who is in Afghanistan.

Plug my iphone into its cradle to sync and charge after it has woken me up! I use my iphone when falling asleep so it always needs some extra juice before I head out to work.

My morning comes in 2 parts – the wake-up/makeup routine (yoga, shower, hair, makeup, commute) and the morning coffee hour (catch up on RSS feeds, draft a blog post, “socialize” or tweet/facebook/friendfeed/comment on blogs, etc., and of course enjoy my morning coffee).
The first.. kind of necessary. I wish I could just roll out of bed and go straight into coffee hour (although I’d keep the yoga), but coffee hour is an amazing way to get my mind in gear for the day. It helps me keep track of what’s going on in the world and keep up with my friends.
But the first first thing I do every day?
Hit snooze.

The first thing, well on a normal day, when i go to school, i get some breakfast and check my mail. And on summers like this, i take a fresh shower to get cool. So warm.

I open my eyes. Then groggily go over to the computer and check my email and read my RSS feeds.
