What do you Think of the iPhone 3G?

I’ll miss my iPhone. I will no longer be using it as my primary communications device. We’ve had really good times together. We’ve had good conversations together, and sent many a great text message. There’s nothing wrong with my iPhone. It’s just not for me anymore. We’ve grown apart, that’s all. I’m breaking up with my iPhone. It’s true. I won’t be using it anymore. Maybe Wicket will want it.
Instead, I’ll be using my iPhone 3G!!! Oh come on. You should have seen that one coming. You’ve been watching me wait for the 3G to get here for how long now? I gotta tell you. I’m happy with the upgrade so far. It’s not a dramatic upgrade, no. My initial impressions are good. For the most part, it’s a good experience. Instabilities abound, many of which have been noted on iPhone and apple-related sites and forums. The hope of the community is that Apple will be releasing a firmware update at some point in the very near future, to clear up some of the hiccups that people are experiencing.
Introducing iPhone 3G. With fast 3G wireless technology, GPS mapping, support for enterprise features like Microsoft Exchange, and the new App Store, iPhone 3G puts even more features at your fingertips. And like the original iPhone, it combines three products in one — a revolutionary phone, a widescreen iPod, and a breakthrough Internet device with rich HTML email and a desktop-class web browser. iPhone 3G. It redefines what a mobile phone can do — again.
Phone Make a call by tapping a name or send a text with the intelligent keyboard.
iPod Enjoy music and video on a widescreen display and shop for music with a tap.
Internet Browse the real web, get HTML email, and find yourself with GPS maps.
What’s new in the iPhone?
- 3G Speed 3G technology gives iPhone fast access to the Internet and email over cellular networks around the world. iPhone 3G also makes it possible to do more in more places: Surf the web, download email, get directions, and watch video — even while you’re on a call.
- Maps with GPS Find your location, get directions, and see traffic — all from your phone. Maps on iPhone 3G combines GPS, Wi-Fi, and cell tower location technology with the Multi-Touch interface to create the best mobile map application ever.
- App Store Tap into the App Store and you’ll find applications in every category, from games to business, education to entertainment, finance to health and fitness, productivity to social networking. These applications have been designed to take advantage of iPhone features such as Multi-Touch, the accelerometer, wireless, and GPS. And some are even free. You can download them wirelessly and start using them right away.
There are so many more things, as well. You can check them all out for yourself on the Apple website, or in any Apple store. I’m telling you. The iPhone is changing the way we communicate, work and play. If you have the 3G already, what are your initial thoughts? If you don’t have one yet… why not?

I love the iPhone 3G, the new backs look really good! I love the black and the white, hopefully they’ll come out with a 32GB in another color lol. I also love it that it’s only $199 but the contract is 10 dollars more which I don’t like so much. I don’t get why the iphone edge isn’t going down in price, which makes me made because I want to get one off ebay with no contract for an ipod touch, and plus it has a camera! I also like the feel of the new iPhone, and of course the best for last - the app store, I LOVE IT, Apple will sell millions of more iphones now with the app store. I love all the apps.
and I can’t forget the 3G part pretty much the whole point of the upgrade, I love it, it blows edge away, and the GPS is nice. I also agree with you that you should be able to customize the color settings, and the warmths, that’d be awesome!

I’m loving my iPhone 3G. Just thinking about all the things I can do with this little device that sits in my pocket just amazes me. BeatMaker is a perfect example. I’m just hoping a 32GB model or even bigger will be out this year.

At this point, I am not planning to buy an IPhone for two main reasons:
1) Monthly cost of service is more than I want to spend, and more than a “normal” phone”. I know you will say it not a “normal” phone”, but it is the only one that you are obliged to pay extra for services that you may not need (3G), at least on some countries, like where I live. On other phones you have the option.
2) One of the applications that I use the most is “Tasks” on Outlook. The IPhone doesn´t support Tasks, or Notes. I can live without Notes, but not without Tasks.

I’ve had the 16GB white 3G iPhone for two days now, and I like the improved sound quality, speed, and handling ability. I kept my old iPhone as a back-up, and yes, I pay more for a two-line “family plan”, but have no land lines. I use the original one for bike rides (encased to keep the sweat out) and in the event the 3G bricks on me. So far, I’m discovering more uses and am doing more web browsing because of the 3G speed, and have not had the battery problems or slow response issues that others have complained about. I suppose there are lemons in every batch that has been manufactured, but mine isn’t one of them.

-No A2DP Stereo Bluetooth (come on, it’s a music device!)
-Can’t use a Bluetooth keyboard
-No Flash for the Camera
-No true push email
-Battery life is worse and no swappable battery
Other than that, it looks pretty sweet for the macophile. I guess it will be a full featured device when they come out with the 4G iPhone.

Typical commentary. The product has problems, but thats OK, it’s a product from Apple. If it were Microsoft, you would roast them for releasing it in that state.

The iPhone 3g looks like an amazing product. I’m glad to see Apple going to the original plastic and white. The speeds of the 3g network(demonstrated at WWDC 08). My wish now is that (1) AT&T will broaden the coverage. I live in an area where there is no coverage. (2) My other hope is almost the same it is that AT&T will broaden the 3g network. I have herd that the battery is worse but this might help.http:

( If the link doesn’t post sorry)
There are other features that I and every other geek in the world wants but iWon’t list them.

Why the heck would they not design for Tasks and notes? It is frustrating as the thing is just a couple of steps away from being quite useful.
