What Do You Blame?

My good friend Drew Olanoff recently spoke at Gnomedex about how he is kicking ass when it comes to his having cancer. He was diagnosed with Stage III Hodgkin’s back in May. Ever since then, he has been speaking loudly all over the country – to anyone who will listen – to help raise awareness for Cancer support and to help raise money for LiveStrong. He also started a new viral Twitter trend, where thousands of people have blamed everything from lost keys to bad hair days on Drew’s cancer. It’s been amazing to watch what Drew is doing, and I can’t begin to express my awe and pride for this man and his journey.

Today is 9/9/09, and Drew is as busy as ever. He and his posse of blamers are busy in Philly with the 24 hour Blame-A-Thon. They have raffle tickets you can purchase, even if you cannot attend the event yourself. There are people coming to talk about their own battles with cancer, or those of people they love. There are live bands, free food, and a huge party atmosphere.

Even if you can’t join them in person, or donate to LiveStrong (or buy a raffle ticket!!), why not show your support by using the hashtag #blamedrewscancer on Twitter! Tune in to watch Drew and his friends all day today (until midnight tonight) as they kick Cancer’s ass into oblivion.
