[...] Pirillo posted “What do women want in laptops”, which points to a post his better half Ponzi wrote about, citing a couple other gadget-luggers, who coincidentally, are all women, and some of their stowaways are different than mine, being male. It’s relevant I think. [...]

Cords are a problem but the power blocks/ adaptors they are attached to can be worse. I don't fly - so I drive everywhere I go now. I take all this gear with me...Camera gear bag that is the size of a suitcase, my laptop bag, a wallet, Cell phone and if I am really lucky, a bag for clothes and my pillow. (all my bags are soft sided styles - just worked out that way)
My point being, I couldn't fly even if I wanted to because I wouldn't trust the baggage people with my camera gear or my laptop! Aren't there restrictions on how many pieces of carry on you can take with you? And when you get to the hotel where do you plug everything in? I started carrying a power strip in my gear bag so I would have enough room to plug in everything that needed connections and charging. The various cords that go with all the electronic toys are bad but then not having enough plug ins or room in a wall socket to get everything charged and ready for the work ahead is an even bigger pain.

My solotion would be to make 1) a UNIVERSAL power supply for each and every electronic toy out there. One cord to fit everything.
2) a UNIVERSAL converter/power block for that cord that is small, lightweight and will easily SHARE a wall plug in with another unit..
3) a power strip that can actually handle multiples of the universal power supply.

My husband traveled in his job for 16 years and literally lived out of his truck and suitcase for as much as 320 days a year, so I have had a lot of experience with power requirements on the road. None of the electronic Mfrs so far have really addressed what every travelor knows is a big Pain in the B....!!!!

Hey, Chris! Thanks for the link!

I actually liked Ponzi's entry so much that I wrote a VERY detailed entry on The Gadgets Page linking to her and talking about what I do and other things people could do with lots of pictures. It posts tomorrow morning.

The most striking picture is of the MacBook Pro power cord and how nicely it wraps up. It's stil big, but it's mighty pretty.

Thanks again,
Laura Moncur

I got myself a new laptop recently. Its an ASUS and has a core2 duo and an inbuilt webcam. As far as the specifications go I'm very satisfied.

However, as a woman I'm finding it very difficult to get the laptop in and out of its bag. It needs to be lighter.

It should also come with a device to make some annoying loud noise when my brother tries to knock it off.

Oh and a built in mirror would be great.
