Yes I agree that gas prices are high, who gives a crap about that I want to know about the oil prices for winter. Has anyone
called to find out what that will cost? Let me tell you, I have been calling around and the cheapest I found was one place
is charging $3.99 a gallon and if I use their budget plan it will
be spread out over 10 months at $4.50 per gallon so 1 fill up
for a 275 gallon tank will cost $1237.50, If I pay cash up front
it will be $1097.25. I used to pay $328 for the same amount of oil. I normally would get 3 fill ups for the winter. I do not have
3703.50 to heat my home. We need to drill in this country now
or we will be burying alot of frozen people. We are on the Titanic and sinking fast. No one seems to care because the
United States is used to wasting energy, time, money. No one
thinks about the future because we are a now society. I have 3 jobs and am trying to make ends meet nothing is working. All utilities have gone up, Gas,food, taxes, insurances. Wake up america. We need something done NOW .

Gas here in Sacramento, Ca is around $4.45 a gallon. I spend about $80 a day on gas, it cost about $120+ to fill up my truck 26 gallon tank.

If this is a competition then I win! Here in the UK we are now paying over $10 a gallon and the price is rising every day! Although a 2 litre engine is considered large here, the average being around 1600cc.

I live in NYC and don't own a car though we are zipcar members, which allows us to use a car for about $12/hour (including gas and insurance!) as needed, which for us is maybe once or twice monthly at most. Otherwise, we walk or take public transportation. Given the high prices of gas, I've never been happier that we don't have a car of our own, but it's still having an impact on us in terms of commodity costs, energy costs, etc. I do think more people in NYC are opting to use public transportation rather than driving right now, largely because of the high fuel costs -- but it makes a huge difference that the public transportation system infrastructure is in place that allows people to make that choice. For people who live in suburban or rural areas, they depend on their cars to get to work, run errands, etc -- they are stuck needing to drive regardless of how high gas prices climb. People can still make adjustments -- not taking certain discretionary trips (vacations, etc.) or carpooling to work -- and I think they will do so increasingly as prices climb. But if the only way to get to work is in your car, what choice do you really have? If gas prices continue to climb, I suspect it could have a real impact on certain types of communities in this country, kind of the reverse of the suburbanization that took place after WWII as cars made it easier for people to work in cities but live outside them. More people may seek to live in or very near cities. There are people who live 2-2.5 hours outside NYC and commute in daily by car. They have to really be feeling the pain of those gas prices, and I imagine that type of commuting will become increasingly untenable.

We filled up in Indiana 2 months ago at around $4.15.
However, Europeans are coming here and loving how cheap it is.
Not to mention the USD is worth nothing.

I live in Northeast Ohio. Regular unleaded has been floating around $3.95 a gallon.

I think it's just absolutely ridiculous how they're gouging truckers with the price of diesel. A lot of people don't realize it, but that's how they're getting more money from the rest of us as well. Everything in this country comes to us in one way or another from trucks. The cost of everything rises as the cost of diesel rises. Our entire cost of living is due to the price of fuel.

^^^^ oops please remove that post ^^^^

I live in Sun Prairie, WI, and gas is 3.92 per gallon. I agree with you Chris, even when it's 6 dollars, hell, maybe even 8 dollars, people aren't going to drive or spend any less. As a society, we have an overdependence on cars, thus gas. The only thing I can think of that can solve the problem is if we run out of gas =P

I've seen that stuff before on TV. I'm sure it would work just fine, except for the fact that Hydrogen gas is very dangerous, and its agitation is a lot more hazardous than lighting ethanol on fire. I've also seen stuff about powering cars with Tritium, or maybe even electricity or solar power. THese are all really great ideas, but there's a huge problem I see that questions the practicality of the matter: changing car fuel means, change in cars, gas stations, oil refineries, etc. Companies associated with those things must expend ALOT of money, setting up new "gas pump", trashing all the cars and making new ones, or remodel of current cars, etc. Not to mention the consumer aspect, where your car that you bought for 20,000 dollars is now practically worthless. I don't think as a society we're ready to move onto radical changes like this. If it was a society where everybody is best friends with one another and a trust could be developed to maybe even bring up the idea, we might stand a chance.

I'm paying 3.92 per gallon currently in Sun Prairie, WI. It almost broke 4 dollars the other day, but nope, not quite. I think us, society as a whole, depend on automotive vehicles too much, thus gasoline. No matter how high the gas goes up, we continue to drive and spend the way we do. One day, we're gonna run out of gas, and the problem will come to an end. Hopefully.
