Here’s a program that will create zip archives – without he .DS_Store and __MACOSX stuff:

That way, PC users won’t see these files (that are usually invisible on the Mac). Most Mac users don’t even know these items exist – on their computers – or in the zip files that they send to PC users.

FYI – .DS_Store files are hidden in Mac because Mac OS X is based on L/Unix. The “.” in front of the name makes it a hidden file on L/Unix systems.
