Doing your part as a citizen by taking part in elections isn’t just about bringing new presidents/senators/representatives into office or keeping the present ones in place. There are all sorts of local and state initiatives that get proposed and, quite honestly, these are where your yea/nay votes count the most.
So even if you’re one of those people who avoid going to the ballot box because you believe that your vote doesn’t matter (and, if so, then shame on you), you might want to consider looking into the other issues at play in your area during the election. You really do have more of a voice and a choice than you probably think you do. If you’re of age, then get informed and get to voting!
Because if you don’t, you can be assured that the people who oppose your values (whatever they may be) will be out there.
