When the kids were little I used to tell them that with out the thunderstorms that the crops wouldn't grow and that would make their granddad really sad. Cause he couldn't make any money etc. It worked they slept through the storms while I sat up and worried about fires, floods and wind damage….lol

No way! Midwest thunderstorms are the best! Where else can you go and see amazing clouds, fireworks :), and even the occasional tornado all in your backyard! :)

Well, personally, I like a good thunderstorm from time to time. Right now though dealing with Hurricaine season. Claudette is the current threat, though minor as far as a hurricaine.

Nay! Verily, thunderstoms to suck! My humble little site runs on my own box at home so when I lose power the site goes down. It sucks.

Toronto gets the odd tstorm in the summer. Last summer was pretty special though as I recall we had about 7 nights of them in a row. Lots of fireworks. I have a clear view of the CN Tower where I live and it was quite the lightning rod.

I like thunderstorms as long as they don't come around every-other-freakin-day like they have been doing this year.

Hurricanes are much worse. I'll take a good thunderstorm any day over a hurricane!

Here in Central Florida we have at least one bad storm a day this time of year. The lightning is a beautiful thing to watch from the inside.

I like thunderstorms in the summer. Breaks up the monotany of the 95+ degree afternoon heat. Just a 10 degree cooldown from an afternoon thunderstorm actually makes it feel cold.
Just get a good UPS so you don't interrupt your work.

I love watching thunderstorms/lightning from a healthy distance. I once saw a perfect anvil shaped thundercloud. It was awesome to see. Somehow, watching tornadoes hop and skip across my backyard doesn't excite me the right way.
Agreed, a UPS is required equipment. I'm sure it has saved my system on many occasions. It's still wise to shut down and unplug when the lightning outshines the indoor lighting, however.

You're crazy, Pirillio. Thunderstorms frickin rule. I miss them (bout the only thing I miss about the midwest). This SF area weather is so damn boring I could scream.
