I have had GREAT LUCK with an ORINOCO gold card, Works GREAT with NetStumbler Too…I first tried it on a recommendation from Patrick on TSS. Even has a place to plug in an external antenna…Try it! I have driven neighborhoods around Chicago looking for open networks…I LOVE FREE INTERNET ACCESS!!

Wish I was out there, I would love to travel around and do that. I don't think that we get that much around here. I will have to look into it more now.

I had the same problem with a Belkin networks card. A friend hooked me up with a MS one and it works with Netstumbler great. We found all sorts of surprisingly open networks down here in Modesto. Utilities, medical offices, lawyers offices, grocery stores, pet stores. Unbelievable.
