You shouldn't keep your wallet out of your pocket anytime your out of your home, unless you take it out for a purchase. (of course you know that)

Ive lost my wallet like 3-4 times already…and for some strange reason, I receive it back every single time…I guess I have good karma or somethin..anywho gnome,whoever took it will get what they deserve…If ya want my theory,it was yoshi…that guy has that “shifty” look in his eyes..the glasses can only hide it so much…:)

I've been through that..
Some former subleaser of an apartment I had in mn did that to me.. I knew he did it but I told the cops that it was dark and I couldn't quite see his face.. I heard from the people closest to him that confirmed it was him as well as his paper trail of checks he wrote (he managed to grab 5 of them). The cops would have grabbed him on the spot if I would have said i saw him..otherwise they said if was $%%@$ hearsay.
Anyway.. It sucks.. was without a license, ss# card, checkbook, sears card, for about a month. And then got 2 creditors calling me weekly for 2-3 months asking for money. I had to explain the situation to them so many times, and that they couldn't get money from me or hurt my rating because of the theft..
Everything settled down a couple month later,and i was hidding my wallet/stuff at night from then on.
btw.. You know how pathetic is is to hold up a photocopy of your birth-certificate and your college id to use to get into bars that want to check your age. Had to it, friends there there and drinks awaited!!! :)

I hope you're as unconcerned about this as you sound, but I doubt it! I've only had this happen to me with an entire wallet once, and a couple of times with individual cards. Losing your entire identity all at once is a very scary thing. I had to relearn how to live without an ATM card, and that was the hardest.

Heh. The theft of a laptop would have been easier to deal with than the potential identity theft we're faced with now. *sigh*
Our vehicles (and there's only one of those left now) have all been changed to CA… Chris was the lone holdout on the driver's license. But it sounds like he might have to get a new IA one first before he can get the CA one.
Hey dear, you know what I realized? The thief is probably reading your blog right now to revel in the crap that he or she has caused. So maybe you and I had better not discuss what we're doing anymore… ;)

When I came to California my husband was in the military and we both remained residents of our home state. We were not required to get a license in California. When he left the military, I had just renewed my license and continued to drive with it. I was stopped one evening by the local police at a DUI checkpoint. They set these up on roadways near bars to trap drunk drivers out here all the time. The officer very courteously asked to see a military or dependent id. When I said I didn't have one he informed me that I should have gotten a ca license within 10 DAYS of the date my husband left military service. He advised me to do this ASAP since I was considered to be driving without a valid license and could be subject to a fine or even arrest. Having your wallet stolen sucks, but this may save you a lot of other grief. Also the same rules apply to vehicle registration. If you are still registered in Iowa, now would be a good time to make the change.

well if it helps out… i will look close to the people behind you on the replay of your show ;) i cant believe someone would do such a thing to one of the coolest guys on tech tv!
just a suggestion, get a chain for your next wallet ;) now the next time they try it, they will end up draging along everything that you have your chain connected to :D
hope it turns up in some way or another.

If it makes you feel any better, I spent the cash on beer and women and I sold the credit cards on Ebay. And it was NOT an easy lift. I had to get all Mission Impossible to scoop it up. I've got mad Tom Cruise skills and lots o' free money! Woo! >:)

My wallet was stolen at work once, too. The things I should have cancelled but didn't (got the credit cards cancelled before they'd even made it to the parking lot)…my library card and video rental memberships… The little thieves went on quite a spree with those and never returned anything obviously. Sorry it happened to you, too. At least you can throw an official Californian bash with surviving an earthquake one week and getting your license the next!
