I can't tell a difference between using this and a regular phone line. It's more than worth the $14.99 mothly cost (I'm only using the 500 minute plan) as opposed to my $60 month costs I had with my last phone company. Right now it is comparable to land line quality except for two things: occasionally "ghosting" of my voice (much less than a year ago; and recently occasional 10 second drop outs where the other end can hear me, but I can't hear them. Phone switches and the related infrastructure are designed specificaly to avoid it. Computer data switches and related infrastructure is not. It's not that big a deal if it takes .75 seconds longer for packets to reach your computer, but think of what how disjointed a conversation would be. If I recall one of the big issues is lag.
