I do IT work for my employer and freelance at home. I build systems for charity and I was a beta tester for Vista and my opinion stands at: Vista is a lesser value than XP and will be the best advertisement for Linux, to date. My customers ask me to get Vista off their machines and even the state offices are saying no to Vista. On my personal machine, when the beta test was done, bang, it was removed. I found the speed, useability and compatability were sorely lacking. A couple of visual differences do not justify the overhead. My next operating system will be Linux based, where I choose how to use my machine. Best of luck to those buying into the Vista blitz. There just are not enough utilities to fix Vista, for me.

I've been using Vista for while now. Im a PC Gamer and I have not had any issues with it what so ever. Alot of peoople are complaining that Vista uses alot of memory, well first of all if you want more features and a newer OS your gonna have to upgrade your memory. Memory is cheap that you can afford to put at least 2 gigs of memory in your system .

For short I think Vista is awsome and a good upgrade from XP, plus too if you run XP you wont be able to run DX10 on the new upcoming games. Plus too Vista SP1 has DX10.1 in it. Which is in sure gonna fix alot of the issues with video.

I am 58 and have been steadily climbing the tech ladder for 15 years as a computer user who has tried out several hundred applications on all versions of Windows since 3.1 ... I am really unhappy with Vista for all its flash and show it is not an advancement as the developers at Redmond seem to have forgotten the cardinal rule about "Ease of Use" ... Vista is more than confusing and less than co-operative even for a relatively 'experienced' old Geek like me..

I should not have to jump through hoops and sort through a tree of different icons etc in order to perform a task or even just try to arrange some music in an easy to access and use library.

The OS sucks BIG TIME ... I came by here by accident but felt like a 'venting' ... forgive me ... but I feel that at this stage of operations Microsoft should have so refined their OS so that we users can do things 'intuitively' and not have to literally go back to school .... I'm very unhappy very very unhappy ... and Bill Gates knows damn well that this latest product is a dog in so many ways ... He could do all the charity work in the world but if the next iteration of an OS from Redmond is not more user friendly with less "Flash' for the sake of 'Flash' then I will have to consider retiring from using Windows and try something else.

Two cents -- not called for I know ... but I had to get it off my chest on behalf of a lot of us simple day to day users ...

<!--%kramer-pre%-->the past (just check out his blog), and he isn't entirely ready to tell people to go out and buy Vista. If it's a new system, then they'll probably have a better time with Vista, but Chris does encourage people to wait until; Service Pack 1 comes out. Vista vs XPSwitching from XP to Vista to XPWindows Vista: I'm BReaking Up With You If you want to install XP on the system you need to format the drive, and then install XP.
<!--%kramer-pre%-->(2GB is my recommendation). I know people are having driver issues with it. That’s not all Microsoft’s fault. Companies had a year before Vista shipped to address that. However, Microsoft changed some fundamental handling of the audio hardware andit’s wreaking havoc. I need audio to work right in several programs. I don’t even care who is to blame right now. I need the programs to run. Is Vista Ultimate the problem? I have Vista Enterprise available to me. The Camtasia issue is the one that might push me back to<!--%kramer-post%-->
