Vista Service Pack 1
http://live.pirillo.com/ – Windows Vista is half-baked, and Chris currently recommends that everyone waits until Service Pack 1.
A service pack, in Microsoft-speak, is an amalgamation of updates and tweaks for the operating system. They include old security updates, as well as new security updates and new features.
Microsoft has said that they will issue the first Service Pack for Vista within the first year of release. Chris believes this vindicates his belief that Vista just isn’t ready for prime-time.
Should you wait to buy Vista until Service Pack 1, or buy Vista now? If you can, Chris recommends waiting until service pack 1 is released. Of course, if you buy a new machine, you’re likely to have Vista already installed on it.

Im running Vista Business 64.
For a Geek Vista is a solid OS. Only had one blue screen of Death and of course that was from extreme user error. I reboot my sys every 5 or 6 days when I notice its been up that long.
A current Computer is a must for less Hardware headaches. usual driver problems on a new os and big bluetooth headaches.
Not to worry about 32bit programs as they work on Vista 64. forget any or those old proggys (16bit) from before win98.that you have loved to use over the years they dont work.
usual driver problems on a new os and big bluetooth headaches.
More Vista clicks needed to get to the same place as in XP
Warning Vista is addictive and once you get the extra clicks under control
you love it.
Oh yah as your installing programs it is best to keep a currant backup of you system so you can go back. Yah Yah system restore works sometimes but its best to keep a full system backup handy. Acronis true image is my favorite.
If your pre-Geek stick with XP for as long as you can stand it.

Chris, quit being an OS whiner and buy an IDEX hard drive switch like a real geek:

I’m putting one in my new machine so I’ll have 4 boot drives: XP, Vista, Ubuntu, and a 4th drive for image experiments, etc.

I’m going to wait until SP1 to start my Home Basic Vista again. Until then I’m using Ubuntu 7.04 instead.
