Vector Fun

Lockergnomie Lyle J. Kroll:

Hey Chris,
I've been working on my bitmap to vector conversion technique. The .SVG file can be found here. I mainly used Potrace to convert the bitmap to vector, Ghostscript (via Ghostview) to extract the .AI file, and Mayuradraw to convert to .SVG (do this for better control then using Ghostview). I then do some finishing with Inkscape which is complete free to use and hope that you pass it on to your readers. Has a lot of cool features for creating .SVG files. I finally compressed the file in Internet Explorer using Adobe's free .SVG reader. Anyway, I hope you like it. Still working to create better line-art, but I'm getting there. :)

Well now… that's something you don't see every day.

The funny thing is, ALL of this you could do right in inkscape. It has potrace built in, and it can save as svgz (compressed).
