I use the free computer recording program, Audacity, for all the recording (music) i do. On my old mic, everything was picked up with relative ease. With this new mic, i plug it in, just like the old one, and attempt to record. The problem im having is that almost no sound is being picked up. The microphone volume is all the way up on my computer, and on audacity as well. When i attempt to record something, it barely even shows up on the frequency bar thing. In order to even be heard, i needed to turn my amplifier all the way up and blast my guitar. Any ideas?

i just bought my Samson CO1U USB mic, and im already having trouble. It is not a good mike. It is a POS. At the risk of repeating my yesterday's post - Get a good lavaliere mike. Get it close to your mouth. Put some sound deadening on your walls. Speak from your diaphragm. Please! Your computer expertise and writing are top notch. The video presentations are difficult to sit through.
You may recall that some years ago I had a few suggestions about a video you made at your in-law's farm. You tried my suggestions and I'm sure you noticed an improvement after you tweaked it. It's difficult being the one to tell the king that he is naked. You're not naked Chris, but your skivvies are showing.

I find it hard to believe that you think a Samson CO1U microphone ($79.00 – B&H Photo) is a “good” mike.
