Universal Serial Bummed
I've been having a blast with this little laptop – when it's been working. Ah, welcome to the world of OS alphas! I went to install the latest build of the LindowsOS, and discovered that the external CD drive didn't wanna do what it was supposed to do. Ugh. I've got the image (ISO) burned to a disc, but the Iomega USB 2.0 Predator isn't cooperating at boot. I'll have to venture out into the land of peripherals and purchase a new USB CD-RW (1.1 or 2.0) tomorrow. Although, I'd much rather borrow one; perhaps the lab will be friendly? I'll find a way. I always find a way.

What??? That little laptop doesn't have a firewire port? What a piece of crap!!! Seriously, do what I “hear” some people do… they go down to their local BestBuy (I see they have one near your studio) or Fry's, “test-drive” a USB CD-RW for a few days and returned it. Yes, it's something many people won't do, but hey, I don't really see a problem with that. :)

lol @ James, I agree with you, everybody buys and returns products the next day, especially Frys. That's what their known most for doing because my brother works there and there's nothing but lines out the door on the return lines.

Wow, that's not cool. So it's the USB CD drive and not the Image, is it? Yes, that must suck greatly. Welcome to the fun I had a little over a year ago when MY CD drive decided to die on me right before I attempted to install an image of WindowsXP.

Chris,
What is Lindows? Don't mean to be Linux-illerate, but I haven't heard of that before. I know Redhat, Mandrake and Suse Linux. But as for Lindows, I don't have a clue.

If I remember correctly, there aren't any 16 bit USB drivers. So no, it wouldn't work at boot.
