Chris, I cannot recommend the ATI All-in-Wonder products without telling you to go back one version from the newest(that'd be the 8500/8500 DV now - check the groups for more good and bad on these) and then get the newest drivers. Even with the latest drivers, I always seem to have some glitch using the AiW cards - I'm on my second. I have several friends/neighbors/customers that seem to have good luck with the Hauppauge www.hauppauge.com tuner boards (don't know about XP though). I'm a hypocrite with ATI though, my next video card will be an All-in-Wonder too. As for internal Memory Card readers try Microtech's (www.microtechint.com) SCSI internal card reader. You could try to find an old IDE/ATAPI PCMCIA "drive" and then get the appropriate adapter, but personally, I'd get one of those USB card readers 5 or 6-in-1 units that mounts like a drive, and then run a USB cable from it to the rear of the system - maybe put a 4-6 port USB hub up front too (if your case doesn't have any USB). I'd have Yoshi do the case / slot-cover mods if I wasn't willing to try it myself first. The USB solution I just mentioned is in my plans currently - don't like all those external devices. Let us know how that Sony works - and compatibility with set-top DVD players too. Good Luck!

TV Tuner cards- look no further than the ATI All-In-Wonder series. I've had the classic PCI 4MB one and currently use the PCI 128 16MB one. Both have worked like a charm.
Also look into http://www.media-box.org (I found it from a LG newsletter myself) if you're building a pc to connect to your TV. I've been running it for well over a year.

I usually give up at the first no, if they donÂ’t want my money IÂ’ll find some other place that does
I usually give up at the first no, if they donÂ’t want my money IÂ’ll find some other place that does. But when it came to my Danger hitop device, I didnÂ’t take no.
My first no was "itÂ’s not on sale till the 15th",
second no was "not in stock",
third no was "cannot be activated",
fourth no was "$100 rebate doesnÂ’t apply"
All of this was false, and after and hour, I left CompUSA with my Tmobile Danger /Hiptop/ Sidekick device. BTW donÂ’t you go to local fairs? Sometimes you can get a bargain , specially for cases and cables.

Yeah, AMDs offer better value for money. But then this is coming from someone with an Intel Celeron.

Intel is fine, as is AMD. The real difference is price. Sure, Intel is a smidgen faster than AMD currently, but Intel costs nearly three times as much for just what is in my opinion, a marginal increase in performance. And one that negligible at that. But I don't have room to talk, I still run a Duron. :P

Specs. ..I need specs. ...The anticipation of what is in your new system is killing me. Did you get a firewire card or what do you think of USB 2.0 ? All my computing friends tell me to use AMD but i've always had great results from intel (never a problem) . I think you get what you pay for. I'll go back to my corner now and shut up !
