“I want to offer a word of advise about all the download enhancers out there.
If you visit a secure web site, they can interfere and block access to the
server. Take our company's web site. We only allow a single login per user
name becuase we had problems with users sharing their ID. Any user that
has a program like Download Daemon, Real Download, etc., installed
cannot get into our site. What happens is that the server keeps asking for
their user ID over and over again. The software tries to establish multiple
connections to the server, but can't becuase the ID is already logged in.
Here's the fix, if you use these programs and run into this, disable the
program. The easiest way in Windows 200/XP is to open up the Task manager
and kill the related process. In 98/ME, Ctrl-Alt-Del and end the task that
way. Some of the programs have an exclusion option that allow you to tell
it to ignore downloads from certain sources, but it does not always work on
dynamic sites.” [Robby R. Roberts]
