Twitter Grand Dame Ivy Bean Passes Away
Ivy Bean was likely the oldest Twitter user anywhere in this world. She was also one of the sweetest and most loving people you likely may have ever come across. Ivy was active on Twitter and Facebook over the past few years from her retirement home in England. She had thousands of faithful followers, including stars such as Ashton Kutcher and singer Peter Andre. Ivy was an inspiration to many people, including those who never had a chance to meet her in person. Sadly, Ivy passed away peacefully in her sleep yesterday.

Support for Ivy has swelled to even larger proportions since the news of her death broke. Fans have created a Facebook Page titled R.I.P. Ivy Bean. Followers, friends and family have been posting messages to that page in her memory.
Ivy tried to tweet at least once a day and her Friday “fish and chip” tweets became legendary among her followers. Many of her fans admit to feeling somewhat lost at not having her tweets to look forward to. Bean had accumulated about 57,000 Twitter followers and maxed out at 5,000 friends on Facebook. Her tweets ranged from the mundane — “time for a tea and biscuit I think” — to the gossipy — “some have had a drink of lager while sat in the garden.”
If only Twitter (and the world in general) was filled with thousands more cut from the same cloth as Ivy. We’d all be much happier, don’t you think? Rest in peace, dear lady.
