I have lived in Italy, visited Germany eight times and went to London in 2005. I didn't have much trouble with the old stuff, but London was a burnout for my palmpilot even with the correct converter. The thing to be most careful about is the 50-60 cycle some of those little converters bought in America don't handle the variable cycles and will toast your little product with out your realizing it It just won't recharge anymore.
I recommend obtaining a universal variable convertor that includes the cycle changes and variables. I had to replace my cords when I got back and for two weeks I didn't have any palm pilot use. I learned later that palm sells a separate international cord for their products.
