Never they have a desktop which is both good looking and functional. Perhaps the *nix world should concentrate on that instead making so many different alternatives that no one ever really needs. But you can also go for things like XFCE4, KDE4, LG3D, Enlightenment, or if you like really basic, blackbox, fluxbox, fxde, afterstep. The wonderfull thing about linux, isn't all the eye candy, it's the saftey Unix-like systems provides, and the amazing customization open source provides. Not to mention it's buggy as fuck! Java swing components end up not being rendered & hence make Limewire unusable in Hardy and movies aren't rendered in Mandriva on my system under compiz either!!! I can't understand why peop using Linux think it makes it so much better and brag about how Vista can't do that !!! Quite frankly I wouldn't want it to either !!!!!!!!!!
