Ask her/him - Whose work do you like best?
Retain an ASHI inspector to do in-progress inspections.
Tell your building contractor that you expect all work to comply with local building codes and each component manufacturer's specs AND that you will have your own inspector checking things out.

He built my house and left me to do ALL the non-electrical wiring. In fact, I did most of the non-electrical wiring with him on his house... right next door.I feel sorry for those of you that don't have a licensed contractor for a brother-in-law/next door neighbor. It works great for me.

Call my brother-in-law. He is as honest as they come. He built my house and left me to do ALL the non-electrical wiring.
