Jeremy Cohn’s Segment
This week Jeremy Cohn and Jim Sanderson discussed the ongoing lawsuits between NTP, and Blackberry manufacturer, RIM. NTP is suing RIM over the software that is used in the Blackberry email software. The suit has been in court since 2002. RIM and NTP had reached an agreement in March, but the deal fell through in June of this year. Lawyers for Research in Motion now want the lower court to enforce the agreement. NTP will soon ask the court to confirm an injunction. Jeremy discussed how his company avidly uses Blackberry’s, and how it would most likely wreak havoc throughout the business world.
Their second story this week was about the Motorola Rokr. It was the cell phone released recently that supports iTunes. However, due to mixed marketing messages, many consumers thought that the Rokr was a combination of a full featured cellular phone and an iPod, all in one. However, even the CEO of Motorola says that this is by no means an iPod replacement. Speculation says that the next generation of the Rokr will be marketed and designed better.
Jeremy and Jim then discussed the recent sale of Nortel’s corporate headquarters located in Brampton, Ontario (just outside of Toronto). Over the past few years, Nortel has gone through some very tough times (financially), and selling their headquarters was simply a cost saving move. They are now going to be obtaining two new offices, to replace the one large office building in Brampton.
Next on the segment tonight, was the discussion about the upcoming release of the brand new xBox 360. The new gaming machine will feature built in wi-fi, a significant amount of storage space, and HDTV compatibility. Games are very excited for the ability to play xBox in high definition!
Chris and Ponzi
Chris and Ponzi are going to Hawaii. Chris just found out tonight and wasn’t pleased.
