The Show’s Introduction and First Segment
Chris is fighting a cold so please excuse his nasal voice tonight
Chris discussed his likes and likes of Sony’s new PSP Media Manager. Its really cool but overall he thinks PSPWare is a better solution.
Jake is being sued by NPR! No, not really! Jake has an affiliate link to Audible which in turn sells the NPR program, Justice Talking. However, Justice Talking is accusing Jake of the unauthorized reselling of their program. This is despite following all terms of Audible’s Affiliate Program, which is the actual provider of the service.
Jake and Chris talked about the ATI X1800 video cards, more information is available at http://www.extremetech.com/article2/0,1697,1880749,00.asp
Chris has had it with Verizon Wireless [Who hasn't?] And is considering switching to Cingular. His cellphone broke, but despite paying for insurance and spending lots of money with them he’d either have to wait until January to get $100 off a new phone when he is up for contract renewal, or pay $50 to get a new phone.
Tonight’s Guest: Venkat Kolluri
Venkat Kolluri, the head of Chitika joined us to talk about how eMiniMalls are remaking the online advertising space one more time.
Chitika means in a snap. The ads allow you to search for products without leaving the page. Chris has made more on his worst day with Chitika than he has made with the Amazon.com Affiliate program in one quarter.
Venkat encourages users to send in their feedback about the program.
Tonight’s Guest: Terry Heaton
Terry Heaton joined us to talked about the changing landscape of broadcast media, how affiliate stations are shifting away from the affiliate model and why that’s potentially exciting for independent producers.
Terry also talked to Chris about his experience dealing with a lump in his breast. He did not have health insurance but had to have surgery to remove it. Even with substantial discounts offered by his doctor and the hospital, it still was a trying expereince. Terry was encouraged to put a paypal donation sticker on his blog where he was blogging about the situation and received donations that helped cover the costs.
